Grub entries gone after Mageia 5 install SOLVED

Postby Egg » May 1st, '15, 14:01

Previously, on booting the computer, I had a choice of Mint 15, Mint 17, or the system I used every day, Mageia 3.
After installing Mageia 5 RC, the only boot option is Mageia 5.
How can I get the other entries back? From memory, I think that Mageia 5 is the only distro which has been so selfish!

Depending on whether you use grub2 or grub-legacy, would any of the the following work?
Code: Select all
# update-grub
# grub-mkconfig -o /boot/grub/menu.lst
# grub2-mkconfig -o /boot/grub2/grub.cfg
Why do we live? To prove not everything in nature has a purpose.

Thanks gohlip.Using "grub-install --version" returned "grub-install (GNU GRUB 0.97)", so I was using grub legacy.
Issuing "update-grub" returned a list of all the distros on my computer, but only Mageia 5 was listed at boot time.
"grub-mkconfig" returned " command not found".
The solution for me was to use "Set up boot system" in Mageia Control Centre to change over to grub2.
