Does anyone else run jpilot?

Can you please attach the output from running jpilot in debug mode?
Code: Select all
jpilot -d

So no issues there. Can you please show the output of
Code: Select all
id
for your user, and also the output of
Code: Select all
ls -al /dev/pilot
rpm -qa | grep pilot | sort

Maybe you need to add your user to the dialout and usb groups, and then logout and login again.
You should also try to stop the colord service, from your first output it might seems that it could interfere. As root do
Code: Select all
systemctl stop colord.service
systemctl mask colord.service

Here is what you requested. That colourscane line was coming from systemd.
If you can use my main email address in my profile, I gave up on Yahoo awhile ago. ;>}

For what should I use your email adress?

Sorry, no further clues. You should probably open a bugreport at http://bugs.jpilot.org/

This is the latest in my attempt to get jpilot runing. I attempted to contact jpilot as you suggested but no joy.

What I would like to know is how to get ride of the "MTP" error I am getting. Thanks roly

That is not an error, only an informational message and will be shown for all USB devices which do not support the MTP protocol.
See https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Feature:MTP_ ... t_Protocol)_Support or http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Media_Transfer_Protocol

Your device seems to be detected, and the visor module is loaded. Check some more guides like
https://help.ubuntu.com/community/PalmDeviceSetup
ftp://rcom.univie.ac.at/pub/OpenOffice/ ... pilot.html
http://www.tldp.org/HOWTO/html_single/W ... ync-HOWTO/

Don't take this wrong but to my point of view the "Media Transport Protocol" MTP is what is preventing me from finnaly geting things working. I have searched many times for stuff relating to this protocol. The hits are 80 to 90% windows or Ubuntu, when I try to do things that the Ubuntu hits suggest like " sudo apt-get install libmtp, mtptools, etc" through add/remove software they are not found.
I have not had time to hit all your links but the Unbuntu one was talking about udev rules and other stuff I am not sure apply to Mageia anymore.

I will keep plugging away and let you know if I have a question.
thanks again;
roly

This was copied from a site with many complaints about mageia's support of MTP.

The bug report is: https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=11394

Do you know if this will be corrected soon?

The actual quote that you cited is from another bugreport: https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=7638#c18
I'll try to see what I can find out.
