I am having a problem with the latest updates for Mageia 4. When I start updating, I get this:

Code: Select all
Installation failed, some files are missing:
    rsync://mageia.jameswhitby.net/mirror/mageia/distrib/4/i586/media/core/updates/libmpfr4-3.1.2-2.1.mga4.i586.rpm
    rsync://mageia.jameswhitby.net/mirror/mageia/distrib/4/i586/media/core/updates/curl-7.34.0-1.5.mga4.i586.rpm
    rsync://mageia.jameswhitby.net/mirror/mageia/distrib/4/i586/media/core/updates/libcurl4-7.34.0-1.5.mga4.i586.rpm
You may need to update your urpmi database.

Try to update anyway?

I tell it to try (Yes) and then get this:

1 installation transactions failed

There was a problem during the installation:

...retrieving failed: rsync failed: exited with 23

How do I go about solving this problem?
Thanks for your help in advance!

Hi Firefighter,

from my experience this is mostly a glitch with the mirror.

Try again an hour later or the next day. In most cases this works.

If not, you can define a certain mirror in the MCC

You can find a list of possible mirrors here:

http://mirrors.mageia.org/distrib

Choose a mirror in your vicinity and one with a possible fast connection (university for example)

Hope this helps (and sorry for my bad english)

cheers,
Bernd

FWIW, this is explained in the wiki: https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Software_man ... dia_source

I am sorry for not responding to your helpful suggestions sooner. I drive a truck and I am away from the computer for long periods of time. Thank you both for your input! Waiting did solve this problem and now all is well and updated properly. I have waited before and things got corrected on their own, just not this long. I was starting to get a little worried about if I needed to do something on my own.

Again, thanks for the helpful input. I am really enjoying Mageia 4 and it is running smoothly on my computer (well for the rarely occasional update issue).
