Steam games on Mageia 4

I installed the Steam client, then bought the game Whispering Willows. The game starts, but the mouse doesn't work, and screen resolution isn't right. I posted to the parent company of WW 3 weeks ago and have got no reply.

Steam and WW were happy to take my money, and just as happy to leave me high and dry when it doesn't work. I uninstalled the Steam client, as it is useless.

Does anyone have any thoughts on Steam or WW? I guess I could boot into Windows 7, but I'm not going to buy the game again.

My PC:

Dual boot Windows 7 Home Premium x64 and Mageia 4 x64, both fully updated.
AMD APU A4-3850
8 GB RAM

TIA for any replies,

Joel

You did install the steam client via Mageia repositories? You can launch it via a terminal, and then run that game, then post the complete output here.

I'd try it, but there's no demo available, and the demo offered by Nightling Interactive http://nightlightinteractive.com/ww-demo/
is only meant to be played in a browser - and the Unity Web player only supports windows.

What you can try, is install steam via wine, and run the windows version.

I've got both steam clients installed, native linux and one via wine and both are working fine, allowing
me to play windows and linux steam games in Mageia, without booting to windows.

Trying to understand why you've un-installed steam when it's the game that's not working correctly :?

With regards Steam on mga3/4, been running it since closed beta and not had any issues tbh. Owning 30+ *nix titles I can safely say its more like the game at fault rather than Steam it's self.

We need more info though regards your system.

First been like Dok has asked, Was steam installed via the package manager?
What graphics drivers are you using for the APU ? Open source radeon or AMD's Catalyst driver?

I take it its the A8 chip not the A4 ?
