SORTED_cant transfer files bigger than 4gb

Postby philk12345 » Nov 28th, '14, 02:47

Just updated to mageia 4 last weekend, i have files on 3 external hdd, usb connected, I seem to not be able to transfer files larger than 4gb between any of my hdd, be it Internal to external, external to external or external to internal, Files bigger than 4gb start to transfer(copy) between hdd , every thing looks like it is going fine but once the transfer or copy gets to 4gb, the file stops transferring and i can not get any further. Tried with a number of files and between different hdd, done search from search box but nothing showed up Only been using linux for 18month and magiea for 9month so it could just be me, but any help would be gratefully received

Some details would be helpful like what file system do you use on your hdd and is your arch 32/64 bit. As this 4GB limits shows on trouble with that limit. But could be on either of them.

Architecture is not important. The only filesystem where that limit applies, is when you transfer to FAT32 filesystem - that's a limitation of that filesystem.

Would be helpful if you can post the output as root of
Code: Select all
lsblk -fl

with the external drives in question attached.

Hadn't noticed one of the Hdd was still formatted to Fat32 as it had been taken from a Windows System, re-formatted to ex4 works fine now transfers files larger than 4gb
