[Solved] What became of exiftool?

PostPosted: Nov 27th, '14, 05:17

I've been using exiftool until recently on Mageia 3 but now that I've upgraded to Mageia 4, I mis it and can't find it in the repositories.
Has it been discontinued, has the name changed or is it just that I don't know where to look?

Any help will be appreciated, as it is essential to some scripts I use to manage my photos.

BR, Michael

Code: Select all
$ urpmf exiftool
perl-Image-ExifTool:/usr/bin/exiftool

Which indicates that you want the package perl-Image-ExifTool

Code: Select all
$ urpmq --sources perl-Image-ExifTool
/mirror/Mageia/distrib/4/x86_64/media/core/release/perl-Image-ExifTool-9.270.0-2.mga4.noarch.rpm

Shows it to be in the core repo.

FWIW, please show the output of
Code: Select all
urpmq --list-media active --list-url
so we can see your currently configured set of repos.

Which I didn't know. I don't recall ever installing it as a Perl thing.
Nevertheless it solved my problem. Thank you.

Nice to know the commands urpmf and urpmq, too. I wasn't aware of those.

Thank you for the code. I just needed help locating the right package.

It would still be helpful for the future to determine if you have a good set of repos currently configured. But if you don't want that, that's also OK.

Please mark the thread accordingly by editing the topic of the first post and prefix it by [SOLVED], thanks
Please also next time create support-type thread in one of the support subforums.

If I've used the wrong forum, I appologize. What is this one for, then?

No need to apologize - I've already move the thread to the correct subforum :)
