Hi guys, as stated in the Clementine thread, I have just done a reinstall of Mageia 4. Since reinstalling, Firefox will not open. I click on the icon and... nothing. I try from application launcher... nothing.
I tried uninstalling and reinstalling from the repository and... nothing. Am using Chromium at the moment, but really would prefer Firefox.
All help will be greatly appreciated, thanks!

Hi daniewicz, I actually re-installed Mageia 4. As stated, I had just done a reinstall and thougth 'eh, may as well start over.'
So that's what I did and Firefox works fine now. Still having issues with Clementine, though.

i don't understand fully your post
too vague
now : when i have a pb of that kind, i simply delete .kde4 directory
(with one survivor, i don't remember the name of the surviving file, tho)
(just click on it and you'll see)
and all is new.
all is love.
all is finally working.

Mr fabulous had had a complete reinstall of mageia with total crushing of all files, i mean , without preserving the user partition, just to solve a ff issue
and d5000 is asking for a [SOLVED] topic ......

or both.

It does not. All that it does is give you a default KDE configuration. It tells you nothing about what went wrong and so does not guarantee that the same problems will not re-appear.
It is much better, if you feel the urge to take the nuclear approach (and are sure that the problem lies in your KDE configuration), to rename it. You can then cherry-pick the configuration files that you need, save yourself a lot of effort re-configuring KDE to your preferences and perhaps also identify the problem configuration files.

mon cher Jim,
we're talking in a thread where a guy has reinstalled, then re-installed, the OS for a ff issue : THAT is a nuclear approach.
nao, if you you wanna suggest that i am a noob, then, we're ok.
btw : to delete .kde4 resets the menu toolbar, and the pb was prolly there : the ff line of the menu was leading to an empty file, due to the install of a new ff, so the reset would have solved the pb, though, we agree on that, making a new menu line would have been better.
But one must begin somewhere, and that is why iwas suggesting the deleting.

Where's your point? The user reported that he reinstalled and that Firefox works now, so I asked him to mark the topic accordingly.
And please STOP providing such recommendations to simply delete complete ~/.kde4 or ~/.mozilla folders or similar.
Renaming them or moving them away is totally sufficient to try if it solves the problem.
BTW: your menu is not stored in ~/.kde4 - it is stored in ~/.local so that would have achieved basically nothing
other then a user losing his KDE and Firefox settings and data for nothing.
