m5sum does not match the 64bit 4.1 DVD ISO

I just tried to download the latest 64bit DVD for installing on my 64 bit server.

Unfortunately the md5sum and the sha1sum do not match what is on the Website.

Is this Clean to install? Or is there a problem?

md5sum Mageia-4.1-x86_64-DVD.iso

You should probably try to check your download and complete it via rsync --append-verify or whatever downloader you prefer.
Or better: use torrents, that way you get integrity checking of many smaller parts for free (and you can also share with others).

Just downloaded via torrent and md5sum matches the one shown on the website
Code: Select all
┌─[doktor5000@Mageia4]─[23:38:10]─[Mageia-4.1-x86_64-DVD]
└──╼ md5sum Mageia-4.1-x86_64-DVD.iso

OK Doctor, Thanks for the reply.

I guess I do not understand why the direct download is not working correctly. I normally do not have problems with it. I will try a torrent download.

Thank you.

I used the Mageia 4 Download page, click on the link .... I ghuess this is not what you wanted? Maybe, there should be an explanation of these download issues?

So you used your browser to download the image? That's what I wanted to know. Hard to say why it failed, that's why I recommend using the torrents, for multiple reasons :)
But you did the right thing, check the md5sum and you saw the deviation.

I mean, what more can we do? The download page offers the downloads, directs you to a geographically close mirror, shows the known good checksum. What else would you expect?
