[SOLVED] Latest soprano update......causes a conflict

Postby jtmh » Jul 27th, '11, 23:17

Hello, All,

I'm running Mageia 1 (i586) installed using the Live CD. The latest "soprano-2.6.0-0.1.mga1.i586" update today causes a conflict with the existing "soprano-plugin-virtuoso-2.6.0-0.1.mga1.i586" package. I can't select "soprano" in the software update window to apply the update. How do I solve the problem?

Regards,

I am using i586 from the live cd and was unable to select soprano-2.6.0-0.1.mga1.i586 due to a conflict, but the problem now seems to have been resolved and the update works fine.

I've found where the problem was. The old soprano-plugin-virtuoso version 2.5.63 was not installed, but the update offered soprano-plugin-virtuoso version 2.6.0, which caused the conflict. After I manually installed soprano-plugin-virtuoso v2.5.63, the update window no longer said there was a conflict and I finally applied the update successfully. Thanks for your replies.

the problem was more related to a missing soprano-plugin-common on mirror (your mirror was probably out of sync) than a missing soprano-plugin-virtuoso.

Actually, the problem is that urpmi --update doesn't resolve dependencies in other mirrors, it only looks in *-update.
This means that it found a package in core-updates that depended on a package in core-release that wasn't installed and threw a shitfit.
