Install problem - freezes at Starting Authorization Manager

This is a fresh install of Mageia 4.1 on an HP ML110 G5.

On the first boot it gets as far as Starting Authorization Manager and just stops there. Any suggestions how to get around this?

Edit:
It seems to be something to do with MGA driver for Matrox chipsets
Falling back to old probe method for v4l
mga: The PCI device 0x522 at 13@00:00:0 has a kernel module claiming it.

Think I might know what has caused this. During install I was asked for: 'Memory size of graphics card'
I looked up this server (HP ML110 G5) and entered 32Mb. Only now further investigation shows it might only have 8Mb.

Question is where is this size stored and can I edit it?

Forget that, have now found that setting in /etc/X11/xorg.conf and changed it to 8192 but still same issue.

Graphics card is Matrox MGA G200e

startx is now displaying error: file /root/.serverauth.3890 does not exist

You should not run X server as root ...
