Programming (Perl)

Postby piggy » Jul 26th, '11, 18:23

Hi, I installed 'padre' (a perl ide/editor) but it doesn't show up as
an entry in any of the gnome menu's. I would have thought it would
be under 'applications' then 'tools'.
However, I can start it by typing 'padre' in the terminal/command prompt.
just would like it as an icon on my desktop as well.
Any ideas ?
thanks !

Yes, you can look if there's a desktop entry inside that package:

Code: Select all
rpm -ql padre | grep desktop

But in this case, padre seems to have no menu entry. But you can add a starter
for it to the gnome panel. Don't know about an icon on the desktop for gnome.

I guess you can add a shortcut if you right click on the desktop. Then you will have to enter "padre" in the software's name entry, and that should do the trick. You can probably do the same in GNOME's menu as well.
