[Solved] Problem with browsing/configuring hardware

Postby eldiener » Sep 17th, '14, 06:41

In Mageia4, using MCC, I go to the 'Manage your hardware | Browse and configure hardware' and click the icon. I immediately get the screen showing it is attempting to work ( picture of computer motherboard in the background ) and a dialog title of "Please wait..." and message of "Detection in progress". This goes on for a few seconds, it looks like Mageia4 is flashing my hardware list momentarily and then whatever info it was trying to show me automatically closes and I am back to the originally 'Manage your hardware | Browse and configure hardware' screen without seeing my hardware.

Does anybody know why this might be failing to show me my hardware list ?

Can you please run it as root via terminal via
Code: Select all
harddrake2
and post the output from the terminal here? Also the output of
Code: Select all
journalctl -ab | grep drakhardware
afterwards.

The 'harddrake2' command correctly showed my hardware. Then I went back to MCC 'Manage your hardware | Browse and configure hardware' and it now worked properly. I do not know whether this was because of running 'harddrake2' previously or because I deleted my connections as suggested in the "Enabling wireless LAN connection" topic. But one or the other has the functionality now working.
