No updates for fresh installation of Mageia

Postby adr » Aug 8th, '14, 14:25

Hi,

I've just installed Mageia 4.1 64-bit on my second notebook. Everything went ok, but I'm unable to update packages. For example, I have old Firefox (24.5.0), while there is update available to 24.7.0 if I remember correctly.

Please prefix commands by LC_ALL=C so that they will show english output, that's much easier.

Please show the output of
Code: Select all
urpmq --list-media active --list-url

Auto-select doesn't update the package lists first. You'll either need to update them manually or wait for mageia update to perform its first check. You can also use urpmi --auto-update which does update the package lists before looking for anything new.

Which is what the OP did. The problem is most likely to be mirror related, hence the doktor's request.

I'm located in Australia, and I've had troubles connecting to $Mirrorlist. I'm not sure how long for, but I hadn't had updates for ages.

Removed mirrorlist, and added a local mirror, then boom, updates galore. So, perhaps try setting a set mirror?

Actually that's always a good recommendation. Find out what mirror works good for you, and keep using that one,
If it gives issues, remove all repos and select another mirror. (rinse and repeat)
