xboard, chess frontend not starting

Hi friends,
I am using mageia4. I tried to install xboard, a chess frontend. Installation was successful. But when i tried to start the program, i am getting this error message

Unable to create font set for -*-helvetica-medium-r-normal--14-*-*-*-*-*-*-*,-misc-fixed-medium-r-normal--14-*-*-*-*-*-*-*,-*-*-*-*-*-*-14-*-*-*-*-*-*-*.

I googled the problem. What i am getting some bug reports on savannah.org during the year 2011.
Can anyone help me?

I simply tried

and the program is running here.

Yes, i had my tainted repo activated. I installed using mageia control centre only.

Hi,
I found a temporary solution for the problem. After some googling, i found same issue in archlinux forums, two years back. This is the relevant url.

Using the advice listed in the above thread, i edited my /etc/xboard.conf, and added the above lines.
