[solved] Please please help, I am pulling my hair out- I have several folders i.e. Var that when I right click,
go to properties, permissions. The owner, Group and Others are faint and I am unable to use the drop down to change permissions. I have also installed plex media server which has user plex group Plex and I would like to change that. I am not really a terminal man and would really appreciate help or pointing in the right direction. Thank you

Your user does not have permission to change permissions. That is why the choices are ghosted. You need to do it as root, and you should do it from the command line.

Actually, you should not do it at all unless you know what you are doing, because changing permissions willy-nilly can open BIG security holes.
