Clicking task manager icon can crash me out to login

Frequently, often even two and three times a day, my desktop crashes ( probably X, maybe kde I dont know),
when I click on an icon in the task manager. I cannot MAKE it happen, great majority of clicks act as expected, 98 to 99%

Any thoughts? I have searched thru a few hundred comments on x crashes to find nothing related.

.xsession errors doesnt seem to notice the crashes.

What task manager do you use in KDE - the default Mageia one or the classic task manager?
Also, do you have desktop effects enabled, and what graphics card and driver do you use?

Classic, Task Manager.

Also, do you have desktop effects enabled,

Yes a few.

and what graphics card and driver do you use?

AMD apu ((EDIT - AMD A8-5600K APU with Radeon(tm) HD Graphics)) no separate card, the latest proprietary driver.
I cannot say whether it helps or hinders, I have answered yes on some requests to chose, but not others. Installs dont normally go directly to AMD's drivers, and I've installed twice over the last 4 months, new machine, then upgrade to 4 failed, and I needed to install.

But yes at the moment, I recently did chose AMDs, but the problem may have covered both drivers.
