So I have gone to the software center and installed Adobe Flash but I still get a popup from time to time saying flash needs to be installed. Is there a solution for this?

Yes. I have installed the nonfree version of flash. The pop-ups aren't constant, but happen on certain web pages.

That is usually because the flash check of those websites is either broken, or checks for Flash Plugin >= 13.0.
Nothing you can do about that, other then ask the website to verify their check and maybe allow older versions of flash plugin.
