You don't provide enough details. Does the whole screen only freeze during the time the system suspends/freezes,
and is it okay once that is finished? Or does the screen keep frozen? What do you do to solve/workaround that?
What do you mean by "whole screen freezes except cursor" ?

What make/model is your box, what graphics card/driver do you use?

hello again ..... and sorry to be late

but when i said the whole screen will freeze i mean the whole UI will freeze at the screen of password message (( you cant even type anything to unlock the lock ))
even if i tried to use (( CTRL+ALT+F2 )) to use command line ..... i cant do it because this problem ...... and about the cursor .. as i said i can move it around but if i press those keys for command line it will be frozen
still the system was working (( like music ...etc )) because one day i forgot to charge the battery so the computer go to sleep mode .... after that when I start to charge its battery
I discoverd that music still working while UI was frozen
sorry about the graphic card .... it is ATI

Well, some obvious things first. Did you check the logs already?
Before you suspend/hibernate next time, run
Code: Select all
journalctl -afxb | tee somefile
in the background or on some tty. Then do a safe reboot if that still works when system is frozen: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Ke ... _shortcuts After the reboot, check the last 200 lines that were written in the log.

Did you run a memtest? Did you check the HDD(s) for S.M.A.R.T errors via e.g. smartmontools or gsmartcontrol ?
Also, what graphics driver do you use currently? Tried with the free alternative already for a longer time?

If hardware is OK, try with a freshly created user. Also use a different login manager, and maybe even a different desktop environment.
Also check different boot options, at least all the acpi/apic ones: https://help.ubuntu.com/community/BootO ... el_Options
