Cannot install skype

This might have been reported before, but cannot find it
Code: Select all
urpmi get-skype
A requested package cannot be installed:
get-skype-4.2.0.11-5.mga4.nonfree.noarch (due to unsatisfied libQtNetwork.so.4)
Continue installation anyway? (Y/n) y

This is now fixed. It was caused by not having all the repos enabled, but the skype sound does come not through the headphones.
The Vlc player comes though the headphones ok.

What everything did you try exactly? Can you record sound in other applications, e.g. audacity or similar?

Hi,

I have tried to use aplay and arecord.

And what was the result?

aplay and arecord are alsa utilities. If sound is playing (per your second-to-last post you only have issues with recording via the microphone now)
no need to try aplay. Even then, I'd use paplay instead.

When I try and record and play back all I get is hisss.
Would if be worth trying to install another desktop like xfce4?
It seems that kde does not like or see the microphone.
