Hi all,

I'm using the tmb- kernel to see if TuxOnIce works better with my laptop (a relatively new Dell Inspiron)--the kernel that Mageia ships can't wake from hibernation on this machine.

I've installed the kernel-tmb-laptop-latest package, and gone into MCC->Boot and told it to boot this specific kernel (as of right now, 3.12.9), but would like to know...when tmb updates the laptop package (which I'm sure will happen at some point), will I have to go into MCC and tell it to boot the new one? Or...is there a better way to boot the alternate kernel, so that when I click on future updates, I won't have to remember, "oh, yeah, now I need to tell it to boot 3.12.x"?

Yes click in grub screen kernel tmb with keyboard you should then booted with kernel-tmb.

I think that wasn't the question. Question was if the newer tmb kernels will be the default entry ...
As for the standard kernel, when you do get a kernel update - the update kernel will be the new default in grub.

Actually not sure, you may need to try that out, probably the best way to know how it works

Yep, exactly, doktor5000! That's what I was wondering. Now that I've switched to the tmb- kernel, am I going to have to update the boot menu myself every time there's a kernel update?

And, as you said, I can try it and see, next time there's a kernel update. It'd be nice if it was automatic, but if not, I'll have to propose a feature for Mageia 5...

Most of the features from tmb kernel go to "generic" one sooner or later.

That may be, but it's unlikely TuxOnIce will go into generic...

You can set it default from drakboot just go to find that list of kernels,press edit that kernel-tmb and then stick to box default it will change it to default kernel.
And that oletus means default in english language.

No it's not that is just solution to set it to default kernel,you could always remove kernel-desktop but it have some problems like virtualbox if you remove it.
