Hello,

I need to install Oracle Java. I have downloaded jre-7u55-linux-x64.rpm from the website and opened it with installer but at the end of instalation process it showed that instalation was not succesfull. Also I hve checked current installed version:
Code: Select all
java version "1.7.0_45"
OpenJDK Runtime Environment (mageia-2.4.4.2.mga4-x86_64 u45-b15)
OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 24.45-b08, mixed mode)

Maybe someone could help me to solve this issue?

What did you try exactly from the wiki page? Can you please post the command used together with the error message so we can see where the issue comes from?
If you only tried to install it via open with -> then please try again via urpmi in a terminal as root as described in the wiki.

Not legally possible due to licensing reasons as clearly stated in wiki.

Yes it is possible because that package not have java inside it will download it from oracle when you install it so it will never breake oracle license.

Code: Select all
As you may be aware, the Java version from Oracle Corporation is not available in Mageia due to licensing problems. Some applications, on websites for example, need Oracle's Java, even if you have java-1.7.0-openjdk installed on your Mageia.

This means that you can't build it to official repos that java itself not means java downloader what download oracle build of java packages.

As it is available from MLO, why should we add this to Mageia directly? Either get in touch with the relevant packagers and ask them to discuss importing this to Mageia directly, or get it from MLO. But please don't waste time discussing this back and forth.

Please keep this on topic, the OP hasn't even responded yet, and this discussion does not belong here.
