Fullscreen stutters and choppy in videos

Postby Alltimeuser » Apr 5th, '14, 20:12

Hello,
Whenever I go to a youtube video and watch it in fullscreen, it will get very stuttery and choppy. I have tried to disable hardware accelaration but to no avail.
Also, this may be helpful or not, but my monitor settings are on plug n play.

Thx in Advance

Please have a look at our MAQeia for flash player plugin: viewtopic.php?f=34&t=880
and maybe in viewtopic.php?f=41&t=5337

I tried the solution for - video stutters sometimes in fullscreen mode -- from the first link but it didn't really help me much. It still is slow and choppy.

Okay. I need to make another post quickly because I just recently had this problem where I am unable to login to my user.

I can now continue this topic because it is more urgent than the rest. Sometimes videos will not load and I have to refresh the page multiple times to get it working.

Until now, you didn't even provide the basic information.
- which browser
- which flash plugin
- some example links that are not working

This happens on Chromium and Firefox with flash player version 11.2.202.350 x86_64 from the software management center. An example of this is any video in youtube (https://www.youtube.com/) where if I go in fullscreen my computer gets hot and the video slows up and is choppy. This also happens almost anywhere such as dailymotion. When I fullscreen the video my computer gets laggy too and I have to ctrl + alt + esc to unmaximize the video. Also, if I switch to another tab and go back to the tab with the video the box goes black. The video plays normally without fullscreen which is weird.

would this be your PC

Sony VAIO EA VPCEA47FX/W 14"

how does it fair playing a video on the harddisk, using vlc or mplayer

there are probably some optimisations that you can do for the video driver in /etc/X11/xorg.conf

but i wont know if those are needed until i know if you can play local videos.

I know when i first got my laptop, which is an I7 with HD4000 chipset that it did not play videos well.

subsequent driver updates that came along improved this.

and now with mga3 much better.

but we need to establish if your laptop can display a local video OK first.
