Hi guys!

I am using Mageia 3 KDE and would like to adjust brightness at startup. I found that both xrandr --output LVDS1 --brightness 0 and xbacklight -set 0 have effect on brightness but do not actually know the difference between them. What is the difference and should I use both or just one of them is enough and if one which one is better?

Thanks!

your problem maybe the same as i was experiencing with my laptop.

I did not need to use the above commands to resolve.

the brightness button up and down would not work, and on reboot would come up dark, or sometimes even a random brightness setting.

viewtopic.php?f=23&t=6683#p43422

describes what i used to fix it.

but on my laptop had the negative side effect of stopping the vol up and down keys working.

but i can still adjust those with the vol slider in mixer.

hope this helps

regards peter

So is the issue solved, or you're still working on it?
