How did you try it?

this command (as root) should work:
Code: Select all
urpmi google-earth-stable_current_x86_64.rpm

Thanks for the reply

But why doesn't pcmanfm or dolphin do the job, there was no issue installing chrome from chromium?

anyway as you directed

Code: Select all
urpmi google-earth-stable_current_x86_64.rpm
unable to access rpm file [google-earth-stable_current_x86_64.rpm]
error registering local packages

which is at least yields a different error
probably have to figure out how to be in the right directory

To answer my own question
double clicking opens a file, but in this instance
right clicking & picking software installer option did the trick
I figured this out when trying to get the full path to the file

Thanks again to Latte for the response, which got me pointed in the right direction...
