Maybe try:
KDE System settings -> Account Details -> KDE Wallet -> Launch Wallet Manager

Good luck!!! ;)

thank you. I had got as far as KDE Wallet but when I click on that I get either:wallet preferences or Access control.

I would like to see the stored passwords. I must be missing something...

You can run kwalletmanager - it will appear in systray (when started from terminal it will also tell you that kwalletd is not running and such).
You may need to click on the small triangle next to the clock saying "show hidden symbols" where kwalletmanager should appear.
Inside you can click settings -> configure kwallet to enable it.

But maybe first as normal user show the output of
Code: Select all
cat ~/.kde4/share/config/kwalletrc
