[SOLVED] Update applet won't be quiet

PostPosted: Mar 3rd, '14, 16:56

I recently upgraded from Mageia3 to 4. I tried the GUI but it failed at a point where I couldn't reboot into X11 so I updated from the CLI. Everything went fine, but now my update applet keeps telling me there is a new version available. It put 21 notifications up over the weekend. How can I tell the applet I already have the latest version without disabling it altogether?

Hello Zeke!

What happens if you do a "urpmi --auto-update" in a root shell?

Greetings

medium "Tainted Release" is up-to-date
medium "Tainted Updates" is up-to-date
medium "Core 32bit Release" is up-to-date
medium "Core 32bit Updates" is up-to-date
medium "Nonfree 32bit Release" is up-to-date
medium "Nonfree 32bit Updates" is up-to-date
medium "Tainted 32bit Release" is up-to-date
medium "Tainted 32bit Updates" is up-to-date
Packages are up to date

Will I have to wait to see if the applet finally goes to sleep?

Nope, rpm command finished without complaint and the MGA update applet popped up again after reboot.

Please show the output of the following commands:
Code: Select all
cat /etc/product.id
urpmq --dump

@rehcla: Please don't give some arbitrary advice which could do more harm than it would help. This has nothing to do with RPM database.

I am sorry for that, it was never my intent to do more harm then help!
But I will be more careful in the future.

Still not resolved. I had a few packages that were marked to be upgraded, and I was properly notified and the update went well, but afterwards, the upgrade notification returned.

Solved by letting the GUI applet grind through the motions. Went through the process with no work performed, but now it is quiet again.
