Thunderbird and libnotify

Thunderbird doesn't use libnotify to indicate new messages, it uses its own built-in notification service... is there a way to have it use libnotify, so that I get incoming email notices via the KDE notifier?

Although you are using KDE (same as me), you can try the Thunderbird Add-on 'Gnome Integration'... Seems that the notifications will work also in KDE here.
