[SOLVED] Changing user login icons/faces

Postby kingwill » Feb 18th, '14, 18:06

Hi

I've recently moved from Ubuntu toi Mageia 4 and I am loving the change. I just have one really basic question to begin with but it is really bugging me.

I want to be able to change the default log in icons that come with Mageia to photos of me and my family. I cannot find a way to do so and a search of the web has been fruitless. Is this possible and if it is how do I do it.

I am a 'normal' linux user, not a programmer so please keep your replies simple and assume I know nothing......you might just be right!

Oh and I'm using KDE and/or Cinnamon as my desktop.

thanks

Rex

In KDE go to: "system settings", "login screen", "users" tab, on the right side of the box where it says "user images" choose your user and then click on the icon below and choose your image, just a little problem here, I think the image must be in "png" format for you to use it! :x

Kingwill, first a very warm welcome!!!! :)

And then one advise: use a meaningful title.
Like in this case, for example: "Changing default icons".

Good luck, and have magical times around!!!

Yes, when you click browse it wants: Icon Files (*.png *.xpm *.svg *.svgz)

Find the picture you want to use in Dolphin (File Manager) and right click it, select actions then Convert to JPG, PNG etc.

It'll spit out a png for you! So do the conversion first and then browse to it through system settings like explained above.

And welcome to Mageia!!! I've used "M" since the Mandrake days. You'll love all of it, and really love the Mageia Control Center.
