Korean input anyone?

Postby kateto » Feb 16th, '14, 13:49

I need to know whether anybody has succeeded to get Korean input support on Mageia 3. Could you tell me what input method you're using, what's your setup, what packages you installed, and how you did it at all?
I had a working configuration to input Korean in Mageia 2 with Ibus, but after upgrading to Mageia 3 for the life of me I can't manage in any IME.
I posted about that viewtopic.php?f=8&t=5729#p40080, but nobody helped.
But please, don't tell me about the greyed out IME list in Ibus, read that, did that, no luck.
Anybody??

Well, the issue is probably those people who use different input methods (ibus, scim ...) and know about them are usually not in the int. forum.
I'd like to help but I don't know nothing about Ibus that would help you. For your previous post, did you file a bug report for localedrake?

Only hint I can give for Mageia 4 at least: https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Mageia_4_Err ... nalization
And for Mageia 3: https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Mageia_3_Errata#ibus

That's how some other people solved their issues with Ibus:

Thanks, but there's no Korean language forum for Mageia, only a Chinese one, and I don't understand Chinese.
I guess the Linux crowd isn't much into languages. Everybody seems to use only English besides their mother tongue, and that seems to be enough for them. There isn't much help for multilingual people like me... Aren't here any Westerners using Asian languages? I just need a response from one of them.
I'll try to file a bug for localedrake, but that won't help me type Korean, because I don't know which package is the culprit. Even SCIM doesn't work.

You could try to ask on one of the mailing lists, e.g. mageia-discuss or mageia-dev: https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Mailing_lists
