ubuntu 13.04 crashes repeatedly

 When using Firefox or Tbird, OS flips out frequently. Application blows up. Screen then goes black and fills up with white text which, I assume, would tell an expert user what went wrong but I'm pretty much a newbie and I can't decipher it. Machine is frozen at that time. Doesn't respond to mouse or keyboard. Only way out is a hard reboot. I'm writing this post on a Mageia box because my Ubuntu box is too unstable.

Any help out there would be appreciated.

Thanks.

Hank

Do you realize this is a Mageia forum and no one here runs Ubuntu? Maybe some do, but this is not the place for Ubuntu support.

Try here: http://www.ubuntu.com/support

On the other hand, if your Ubuntu install is too unstable and crashes, and your Mageia install works, why not use Mageia instead? :)
