[SOLVED] Gray desktop wallpaper

I just did an on-line upgrade from ver 3 to ver 4 and use the Gnome desktop.

I cannot change the gray desktop wallpaper by selecting another wallpaper or picture. I do see the selected wall paper if I remove the desktop icons through dconf-editor. Also, if I move my mouse to the top left corner to view the quick launch bar I can see the selected wallpaper.

Any thoughts as to what I need to tweak to get my wallpaper (with icons) back?

Thanks,
John

Thanks for the response RogerP.

I did a fresh install which took care of the desktop issue but found I also had sound issues in that my motherboard sound card was not picked up. Only had the hdmi "sound card" from the video card as an option. Perhaps a kernel issue??

I had great success with Mageia 2 and 3. Everything just worked. Experience with version 4 has sent me packing to use Debian and Ubuntu for a while. I'll give Mageia a try when I have more time to fight through the issues.
