Problem during upgrade

PostPosted: Feb 5th, '14, 22:36

Hi guys,

I had a system crash during the upgrade process.
I was forced to hard reset and do the upgrade again.
upgrade appears to have worked, except... everytime I log in the bug report tool pops up.

Another Note. There seems to be a LOT of orphaned packages after the upgrade. some are marked .mga4 and some .mga3
What should I do with the packages on my orphan list?

Maybe I am missing packages as a result of the crash?
How can I tell if the upgrade completed properly?

thanks in advance :)

Quite some information is missing.

When you said system crashed, what does that mean exactly?
How did you perform the upgrade, what method from https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Mageia_4_Rel ... m_Mageia_3 ?

To verify if the upgrade is complete please show the output of
Code: Select all
urpmq --list-media active
urpmi --auto-update --auto

When it crashed it just froze completely... The keyboard would not work... Could not connect with SSH. it just stuck.

I used urpmi CLI method to upgrade.

Damn Mirrorlist ...

Please try this one and post output here:
Code: Select all
head -20 /var/cache/urpmi/mirrors.cache

Hmmm, maybe that mirror hasn't synced completely? Best remove all repositories and add a complete set, using a specific mirror.
See the first and third bullet at https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Mageia_4_Rel ... m_Mageia_3
(the second would result again in using mirrorlist which tries to select a close mirror)
Then go for the fourth bullet again.

For the crash, sadly the bug report dialog doesn't say which program triggered it. My guess is that it's caused by either mgaapplet (the update applet)
or net_applet (network management applet). Autostart of those can be disabled as normal user via e.g.
Code: Select all
echo 'AUTOSTART=FALSE' > ~/.net-applet
echo 'AUTOSTART=FALSE' > ~/.MgaOnline/mgaonline
