please excuse if ive posted in the wrong place.
have been using Magiea 3 for about 2/3 months now. but over the last few weeks my hdd started playing up,(Built System on an old hp compaq I had ) so decided to get a new hdd and re-install, so down loaded the i586 32bit iso,
from the very first boot after install, have been having problems,
the message reads - Error while initializing DBus. Disabling service.
Am a noob to Linux and had used 3/4 other distros befor i settled on this one.
Would like to sort this, as like this as my O/S.
Being a noob not sure if this is a big problem or not, as everything seems to be working ok. Any help or an explination on whats happning gratfully received. have reformated Hdd , so will be doing a fresh Install so if anything needs to be done at this early stage to help fix this error, its no probs

Dbus is an essential service for a lot of applications, it provides inter-process communication. Many applications will not even start at all without a dbus user session being available.
Which image did you download exactly, did you compare the md5sum as suggested on the download page and what media did you use (burned CD/DVD or flash drive).

Thanx for the reply, md sums matched, burnt the ISO to a DVD using both Nero and burn aware on windows.
Had the same prob with first install, ran fine with first update, Dbus worked ok no error message, but some time after the first or second i586 update, i started to get the errror message,(Could do every thing I could befor, Did not seem to break any prog) thought it might have been the disk, So decided to download a fresh copy and burn it to disk and do a fresh install.
Have Home on the Extended partition, Boot and Swap are on separate partitions on Primery and have Root and Var combined on the last primery partition. I find this set up has worked fine with other distro's i have used, as once i have Installed o/s and the various packages i use. I clone my Root partition(Twice) I also use Snap shot at this point, when using either to reinstall, it still went pear shaped at the I586 up date point, Am on Downloading Mag 4 Now Sooner than i was going to, Hopefully its not a recurring Bug. Thanx again for your help

As it's the same issue, no need to start a new thread.
See
https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=9326 and also
https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=5622Does the issue still occur when you remove draksnapshot?

Was having a dbus error with magiea 3 ,
so done a fresh install with magiea 4,
After down loading checked Mdsum, Burnt to Disk
Installed using Custom partition Tool Deleted All Partitions on the primary and resized slightly
did not alter the Extended Home Partition
I have kept the same partition set up as i used with Mageia 3 , boot,Swap (Root & Var) together_-Home Extended,
When installing did not opt to do updates then, I waited till after first boot and then restarted and cloned the drive, Restarted
I used Mageia Control Centre to update system with default settings, no updates on default setting,
installed and then uninstalled gparted and installed KDE partition manager Restarted
Activated Snap Shot, from CD media. the first reboot of any kind restart or shut down after doing this Activates the Dbus error
what packages do i need to install to send a bug report
Any Help Again Please

After uninstalling snap shot would you advise leaving or removing orphan packages
