[SOLVED] the entry to update is missing?

Postby alzea » Feb 2nd, '14, 09:43

Hi,

When I'm trying some urpmi command (I'm new in Mageia), I got this error:

Image

Is this normal?
I use Mageia 4.

Please excuse my English.

The urpmi.update command is only for updating the repos (it's not for installing updated packages). However you have to specify which repo you want to update - therefore it lists all repos which you have installed.

If you want to update all your repos you will have to enter
Code: Select all
urpmi.update -a

If you then want to install all updated packages you have to run
Code: Select all
urpmi --auto-select

However there is a combination of both commands which is
Code: Select all
urpmi --auto-update

In this case urpmi updating your repos and looking for updated packages in one step.

Yes, it is normal. urpmi.update requires either an option like -a for all repositories or the name of one or more repositories.
That's what it's trying to tell you, it shows you the name of all repositories you have configured.
What did you want to achieve?

For software management please have a look at https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Software_management or maybe https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Install_and_ ... r_beginner and for urpmi https://wiki.mageia.org/en/URPMI

Hi,

@doktor5000 & @Latte

I tried to update the apps that has been installed. I think it's same with "apt-get update" command on debian-based distro, but I was wrong. Sorry, I'm just newbie Mageia, and still have a lot to learn. :P

I tried the command:
Code: Select all
urpmi.update --auto-update

But still get the same error. Does this mean that there is no any update?

I've tried searching for answers on the wiki, but I am a little bit lost.

Thanks in advance for guiding me. :)
