Hello fellow Mageia users, i know it is a long post but i want to get myself comfortable in here

There are some software titles i need to check if there is a copy on the mirror sources need to know if they are there yet as follows:

1 - IM client that supports the following; msn, yahoo, gtalk, aol, Facebook what do you recommend and is it there on the mirrors

2 - scumvmm Games [ie flight of the amazon queen, under a steel sky] and of course the emulator/config manager related to it i have some of those games in my external hdd and it would be a waste not to use them.

3 - my favourite game simutrans has any one adapted it to mageia 64bit ?

4 - Skype have an account but don't use windows any more any ideas on how to get it to work under mageia 64bit ?

5 - what are the best games here on mageia other then kde and gnome related games? what repos do i get them from?

thank you in advance on any advice you give me

Hello,
I don't know if you are aware of the rpmdrake tool in mageia
or not, it is the tool that lets you install and remove software.

Go to system>Administration>Install & remove software.
It will ask for your root password.
There you can use the "find" box to search for the software you
are looking for.
One hint, there are 2 drop down boxes at the top on the left, under where it says
software management, make sure they are both set to All.

Also see Linux App Finder.

You can also search google, they used to have a google/linux page, but they
changed it. So try something like : "name of app linux" or "linux name of app".

Hope this helps

Please apy attention to the general rule: Only one probelm per thread.

For the sake of it, as instant messengers you could take a look at Pidgin.
Multiplatform, multiprotocol and many plugins available.
The scummvm games were available for Mandriva from PLF, should be relatively
easy to get them running on Mageia.
Simutrans - you should be able to install this by only extracting the latest tarball,
as simutrans is one of those games which should only be used in the most recent version.
For Skype please take a look at the thread "Skype 2.2".
