[SOLVED] Problem with external hard disk on Mageia

Hi,

Yesterday, I used my external hard drive (WD) on Mageia 4 RC (Cinnamon desktop). To "turn off" the external hard drive, I used "remove device safely" in one of the drop-down menus. OK, it works. But the big problem is that my hard drive has not stopped or disabled (the "engine" of the hard drive still worked). So I was forced to remove the power plug connected to the external hard drive. I don't think it's a good solution (well, that's what I think). Why with the new distributions, the external hard drive don't shut off automatically ? I never had this problem with older versions of distributions (eg. OpenSuse).

Is there a solution for this problem ? This seems to me a very annoying problem. Have you got informations about it ?

Thanks.

You may want to look at http://www.reddit.com/r/archlinux/comme ... or_my_usb/ or http://askubuntu.com/questions/56270/ho ... hard-drive
You may have to run udisks --detach twice, depending on your harddrive.
