cannot install ifuse

Postby capio » Jan 9th, '14, 16:39

Tried to install ifuse, but get error message cannot 'due to unsatisfied libimobiledevice.so.1()(64bit)'.

libimobiledevice is already installed.

Would appreciate any advice

Thanks

would help if you can describe more precisely what it is you are doing.

so i would say something like

mageia 2 64 bit

installing ifuse via this command

in a terminal window

Code: Select all
su - root
password:*********

urpmi ifuse

outputtext from command..............  including any errors

so that those of us reading it know the context of the situation that you are installing it in.

of course ifuse does not exist in mageia 2 so, above is only an example, and im assuming its available in the mageia 3 repos.

but thats because you have not given a clue what you are doing and assuming that everyone uses it

if you are not getting it from the repos and installing it via some other means, thats not the best aproach in mageia.

I would try to find a rpm from another distribution if thats the case that shares a similar lib version to the mageia version you are using.

so mageia 3 is quite close to fedora 18/19, an rpm designed for fedora 18/19 stands a good chance of working in mageia.

please dont attempt to install tar.gz tarballs in mageia, unless you know what you are doing.

it has the effect of dropping crap all over the mageia binaries and scripts, and can lead to a reinstall at worst.

Hi Peter
Thanks for the reply.

I want to mount my iphone so i can download my photos, and after browsing around it seems ifuse is the package for this, (it is not included in magiea repository), so i downloaded it from here, http://rpmfind.net/linux/rpm2html/searc ... uery=ifuse, i tried both Mageia and Mandriva, with the same error as above ie. 'due to unsatisfied libimobiledevice.so.1()(64bit)'.

Thanks

libimobiledevice is already installed.

The Mageia libimobiledevice packages do not supply this facility, note the additional round brackets, and they do not supply libimobiledevice.so.1 at all as that's a quite older version.

Code: Select all
[doktor5000@Mageia3 ~]$ urpmf libimobiledevice.so
lib64imobiledevice3:/usr/lib64/libimobiledevice.so.3
lib64imobiledevice3:/usr/lib64/libimobiledevice.so.3.0.1
lib64imobiledevice-devel:/usr/lib64/libimobiledevice.so
lib64imobiledevice-devel:/usr/lib64/libimobiledevice.so
lib64imobiledevice3:/usr/lib64/libimobiledevice.so.3
lib64imobiledevice3:/usr/lib64/libimobiledevice.so.3.0.1
libimobiledevice3:/usr/lib/libimobiledevice.so.3
libimobiledevice3:/usr/lib/libimobiledevice.so.3.0.1
libimobiledevice-devel:/usr/lib/libimobiledevice.so
libimobiledevice-devel:/usr/lib/libimobiledevice.so
libimobiledevice3:/usr/lib/libimobiledevice.so.3
libimobiledevice3:/usr/lib/libimobiledevice.so.3.0.1

Maybe you want to tell why you want to install ifuse in the first place?
