Works fine here. What Mageia version do you use, and what desktop environment. And how do you start X, and what graphics card and driver do you use?
Code: Select all
lspcidrake -v | grep VGA
can tell you the latter

Latest Mageia -3, I use Gnome
My video card is NVIDIA GeForce 400 series and later: NVIDIA Corporation|GF108 [GeForce GT 440] [DISPLAY_VGA] (vendor:10de device:0de0 subv:1458 subd:3518) (rev: a1)
X starts automatically, by default

Hmmm ...

When you logout, what happens exactly? Do you see only a black screen, or do you see the nvidia splashscreen again (which would indicate that at least X has restarted) or maybe a text login or blinking cursor?

FWIW you could try to use another display manager, like KDM or SLIM or XDM or whatever, they can be easily switched after installation via drakx11: http://doc.mageia.org/mcc/3/en/content/drakedm.html

When I logout, I saw blurry logo of Mageia.
Virtual consoles work, but also screen is blurry.
On Debian Wheezy after logout I saw nothing - dark screen. On debian install another login manager gave nothing..

Cannot really help you with the Debian installation, also you only answered part of the question.

I have the same problem on Mageia 4.

Code: Select all
killall -9 X
give the same effect like logout into GDM. I think it's no GDM problem..

Does the issue persist when you try another DM as already mentioned above?
