This forum is dedicated to basic help and support :
Ask here your questions about basic installation and usage of Mageia. For example you may post here all your questions about getting Mageia isos and installing it, configuring your printer, using your word processor etc.
Try to ask your questions in the right sub-forum with as much details as you can gather. the more precise the question will be, the more likely you are to get a useful answer
I downloaded and tried to install todays' updates but got a load of messages regarding certain updates (several) that required other items. As I am only a user and not technical I didn't know what to so I left it and quit out. I rebooted later and the normal 'Boot Mageia 3' screen came up then the hard drive kept going but my monitor went blank saying 'No signal Input'. Next tried Safe Mode - same result. What's happened !!! HELP.

You may have tried to update before your mirror was fully sync'd.

EDIT: If you have a 64 bit system, before running that command, check if you have a 32 bit kernel installed. If so, remove it. There is a report that the update process tried to install the 32 bit kernel on a 64 bit system, presumably because the 64 bit kernel had not yet reached the mirrors. https://bugs.mageia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=12032
Actually got this problem too - there was an nvidia driver update, and it installed the binary kernel modules nvidia-current-kernel. Weird thing is that I've also got nvidia-current-kernel-3.10.24-desktop-2.mga3-319.60-8.mga3.nonfree.x86_64 installed even when I don't have that kernel installed at all.could be due to nvidia-current-kernel-desktop-latest-319.17
But even after removing that one, turned out X server didn't want to start. So removed all nvidia-current-kernel packages, and just kep the dkms one, as I know that works.
I suspected it was something to do with nvidia and X but I am not technical so hadn't a clue how to sort it. Fortunately re-installation seems to have solved the problem.
Thanks. I had the same trouble after the latest update of Mageia3 x86_64. GNOME could not start any more. After login into the GNOME user I only got an error dialog:
Oh mince! Quelque chose s'est mal passé. Un problème est survenu et le système ne peut pas se récuperer. Déconnectez-vous et essayez à nouveau.
I could login only with the guest user. I had no chance to login with my user into the GNOME desktop.
