Hello.
Does anybody ever succeeded in installing a multi-user double-entry bookkeeping accounting application (like Tryton, FrontAccounting, LedgerSMB, Openbravo, OpenERP or SQL-Ledger) on Mageia 3?

What is your real question?

My real question is that my small business needs a multi-user double-entry bookkeeping accounting application. GnuCash, HomeBank and Scrooge are single-user; Grisbi is single-entry bookkeeping. We tried to install several multi-user double-entry bookkeeping accounting applications, but always faced problems of dependencies from packages we couldn't find (even in pbone.net or rpmfind.net) or couldn't install, and the installation instructions are usually written for Ubuntu or, in the best case, for Mandriva 2010. It seems OpenBravo is planned for Mageia 4, but Mageia 4 will be released in February, the accounting year begins on January 1st and I'm reluctant to use a beta version for a task so critical as accounting. We use Mageia 3 with KDE on all our computers and, so far, has been using GnuCash. The reason why we need a multi-user system is that I would like cashiers to include directly the shop transactions into the accounting database without giving them permission to modify other transactions.

That sounds much more specific, thanks for the clarification.

Thank you doktor5000. But it's just for Mageia 1. Now we are using Mageia 3. Does anybody ever succeeded in installing OpenERP or such a multi-user accounting application on Mageia 3?

Well, at least openerp-server is available in Mageia repos. You may also want to ask about that on mageia-discuss mailing list:
https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Mailing_list ... sion_listsAlso openerp seems to be packaged for Fedora, so the remaining parts can be ported rather easily.

Not only OpenBravo is not in Mageia 4 RC (release candidate), but even GNUCash is not there any more.

Openbravo was never in the repositories and I can't see a package request fro it in bugzilla, and gnucash is still in the repos.
0 professional accounting application

Yes, sorry: GnuCash is not in the DVD but is in the repository indeed. In Mageia 4, there are at least 4 personal accounting applications, and 0 professional one. The presence of OpenBravo in the cauldron packages list
http://svnweb.mageia.org/packages/cauldron/openbravo/had made me believed it would be ready for Mageia 4...
This has something to do with a question I asked more than 3 years ago (before the release of Mageia 1): "Will Mageia meet small businesses' needs?"

As you seem to be interested in small businesses' needs, did you help get those programs packaged, tested and maintained?

Hello.
We couldn't even install any such application for ourselves, don't speak of packaging it. To get another problem solved, I had created a page:
https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Paid_projectswhich was tagged "too controversial" and deleted from the Wiki's menu.
Fiable.biz used to contribute to Mandriva's wiki, where our pages were not deleted from the menu and because we would find people helping us in the forum.
http://wiki.mandriva.com/en/User:95ac7c ... f6ec4aad78In fact, several of our contributions there used to be redacted (and sometimes illustrated) forms of help we had received in the forum.
Fiable.biz contributes to the documentation of Drupal, which is included in Mageia and meets the needs of many small businesses.

Sorry to hear that. But did you contact somebody from
https://wiki.mageia.org/en/Commercial_vendorsor Mageia council directly and asked for help? What was the outcome?

I've removed your signature as this is not an advertisting platform. This was the last warning, next time it will be a permanent ban.
