Hi,
I have installed Mageia LXDE on my netbook and it is running great. I am planning to replace the Linux Mint on my work laptop with Mageia, but I would like to make sure it works fine with docking station. Can some one confirm? Following are the things that I expect to work automatically.
1. When I connect my laptop on the docking station and have the laptop lid open, the display should be mirrored in both laptop and in external monitor with correct resolution.
2. When I connect my laptop on the docking station and have the laptop lid closed, the display should be in external monitor only, with correct resolution.
3. When I undock my laptop from the docking station, the display should automatically switch to laptop monitor, with correct resolution.
4. The above things should work no matter however many times I dock and undock my laptop on docking station. I haven't seen any Linux distro that takes care of these automatically. In Linux mint, I use the display properties before I dock or undock the laptop. I am having problems when I do it multiple times. At times, both laptop and external display goes blank and the only option I have is to do a hard reboot.
5. Even if #1, #2 and #3 works in Mageia, will it work irrespective of the DE that I use. I am going to try with Mageia KDE liveCD, but when I install on my laptop, I will probably go for LXDE as I always prefer light weight DEs.
Apparantly, windows handles all the first 3 points seamlessly.
Thanks,
Balaji.
