Pen drive does not automatically mount

Hello,
I use Mageia 3 and pen drives do not automatically get mounted. I need to open Dolphin and click on the drive to get it mounted. Is there a way to get this done? I tried autofs but it doesn't seem to fix the problem either.

Thanks,
-S

Right-click the device notifier plasmoid -> settings -> removable media -> enable automount of removable media and adjust settings as you like.

Thanks doktor. Does this quirk come from KDE? I wonder why it is not enabled by default though!

Yes it's a KDE setting.
Well, not everyone likes automounting, this may also pose some problems e.g. with 3G modems
which get detected first as CDROM or small flash drives, but should be automatically switched to modem mode.
an automatic mount would prevent that.

Actually this is also one of the first things I'll disable in windows, as when you connect removable mass storage,
annoying windows pop open after automounting and mass storage is accessed like hell, scanning quite a lot of the files in it.

I also do not want automount of USB media, and will disable that "feature" if it is enabled.

Aside from the security implications, often enough I am plugging in a USB device that I am passing through to a virtual machine, and I want to mount it in the VM. If it mounts automatically in the host, that is just a hassle to deal with.
