Hi…
I have installed Mageia 10 times on 3 different rigs and every time after a while I get this ….
I really don't know why… can anyone shed light on this…?
I am using zone minder with an 8 chip TV card for 5 camera's

It says you /dev/sda5 has a filesystem inconsitency, and asks you to run fsck manually on that partition. Don't see the capital letters?

yes I have eyes, why do I have to run this manually ? any is there any way to make it run automatically ?
I have set
"AUTOFSCK_DEF_CHECK=yes" in /etc/sysconfig/autofsck
However this still comes up to run manually...
It takes forever I have to agree to each fix, I would like to just repair it….

You enabled the automatic check, which is useless as that is enabled by default if a filesystem is marked unclean, it will be checked.
That doesn't mean that fsck will automatically repair each and every severe error, which may require your intervention.

That's why it says run fsck manually. Did you do that? If you would like to repair it, run fsck.

What do you mean with "happening all the time with all builds" ?

Did you check that the underlying physical harddrive doesn't have any errors, e.g. with smartmontools, gsmartcontrol or something like http://www.hdat2.com/ or the corresponding diagnostic tool from the harddisk vendor? Appears your harddrive is not working properly.

there must be something wrong this is the 4th are drive I used, 3rd processor, 2nd logic board.

Doesn't matter if it's the first or 5th harddrive or board. Did you check it, did you assure it's working physically correct without errors during a lowlevel test?
Sorry, but either you want help and take the hints or you don't.

Same with the fsck - if all the errors are not repaired (and stay repaired) there's no use continuing further on this topic.

Your symptoms suggest a failing hard drive, as doktor500 said. If you keep changing drives and motherboards and the problem continues to manifest, you may have a different problem.

I would suggest you replace the drive cable, and the power supply. A defective power supply could be behind all your problems, particularly if it is a cheap supply.

Thanks I will replace the entire server again, I have done this once, however I suppose given the laws of probability it is not beyond the bounds of possibility that both machines were intact faulty.

If you have replaced your entire server before, and the problem persists, then I suggest you look upstream. In your position, I would be hanging instrumentation on the power lines that feed that server, looking for evidence of noise or spikes. I would make sure that, at a bare minimum, the server was receiving filtered and clamped power and, in the more likely case, the server was connected to a UPS.

I don't know your environment; it is certainly possible you have two bad servers - depends mostly on your procedures for dealing with pullouts and maintenance spares, and so forth. But were I to have that problem, I would take a hard look at the power lines.

Thanks, yes I have replaced the server, the server is on the same UPS as a phone system that has run constantly without fault for 3 years.
