Ok,

I had Mageia 2 on my server, and upgraded to Mageia 3..... well, tried too. I have an Athalon X2 64, and tried the 32 bit and 64 bit version of Mageia, but it crashes after install and won't boot.

So, I put together an alternate system, a Xeon Dual process, two 4 core processors. Mageia will not install on that machine either.... does anyone else have these issues??

Well, why did it crash, there was surely any error messages - and when exactly after installl did it crash?
For the other machine, at which stage exactly doesn't it install? Does it load the installer at all?

And which media did you use exactly for the installation attempts? Did you check the md5sum of those?

Well, it did have a whole string of messages..... but I could not write them all down.... it was saying something about not being able to load the plymouth splash screen.... HOWEVER;, I did find the problem.

Not sure why it was a problem but:

I have three hard drives: an old 60 gig IDE, and two SATA. The IDE is WD, the SATA Seagate. I have my system on the 60, my home on one of the large SATA drives.

I disconeected all but the 60 gig, reinstalled, rebooted, shutdown, reconnected the sata drives, rebooted, remounted my home as one of the SATA drives, rebooted and it is now working. I remember from the IDE days where some of the Seagates did not like being in the same box as WD's but thought those weird problems where behind us.
