[SOLVED] web browser text only

Postby jmsms » Sep 29th, '13, 15:25

Lately been having problems with both FF and Chromium in Mageia 3. Certain sites will render like this and have all text aligned on the left, no backgtound and some images left aligned. Googling would reveal that some in the past had issues with filtering software(use none), some had issues with the cache(have mine in ram tmpfs) , outdated flash/java(system up to date, the standard core, nonfree, etc repos up to date). Couple other pcs with win 7/8 no issues there. I have tried disabling all extensions and it doesn't help w/either ff or Chromium. Fiddling around with the page style setting in ff doesn't help either. Anyone else having problems with this?

Try clearing your browser caches as this can sometimes happen when the cache becomes corrupt. It's unusual in two browsers though.

Interestingly, creating new user did not help, and clearomg cache and cookies didn't work either. . Turns out that booting machine into windows revealed the same problem there, indicating a possible router issue. I had put some website keyword filtering rules for its MAC address into DDWRT to block sites containing certain words to this PC, which at times is viewed by children. Another Mageia 3 machine on my network had no issues. Once I removed a couple of those keywords from ddwrt, problem is gone. Somehow it must have been doing something to the CSS?
