I suppose you have not configure the media sources.

Go to MCC > Software Management > Configure media sources for install and update > Add > Full set of sources.
This will configure all the available media sources for your architecture, using one of our mirrors.

Then you may want to activate some of those, name Core Release, Core Updates, Nonfree Release and Nonfree Updates.
You can activate Tainted Release and Tainted Updates too if you want codecs and libs such as libdvdcss2 (which may not be legal in some countries).

EDIT: I saw you find it yourself, good :)

Holzster,

It seems that you would ask about "Software Management". To search for packages, I always select "all", and "all" and "in names":

Is there a way to specify the mirrors anywhere?
Currently is is connecting to cz servers which are slow for me and I would ideally like to use a different mirror!

Remove your current mirrors with
Code: Select all
urpmi.removemedia -a

Choose your mirror from the mirror list http://mirrors.mageia.org/distrib
Add the mirror with
Code: Select all
urpmi.addmedia --distrib <mirror_url>

Note: The 'tainted' repository will be disabled by default so go in and enable it using the software sources GUI.

If you do not want to take the command line way (as djennings described) you can go to the media menagement in MCC -> Software.

1. Remove all entries by marking them and click on "Remove"

2. In the menue open "File - Add a specific mirror"

3. In the upcoming dialogue click on "Complete set"

4. In the upcoming list you will see all Mageia mirrors, sorted by geographical order. Select one that suits you and off you go.

(the name sof the menue entries may be not exact because I translated from my German environment)

If your in the USA be aware that kernel.org which is on the list doesn't work.
I tried both ftp and http and both failed. The rpms are there but installation of the media fails with "no media.cfg file found".
Also, at the moment (distrib-coffee.ipsl.jussieu.fr) appears to be down.

kernel.org seems to work OK for me, even if it tends to wink off for a couple of minutes, though rather rarely.

Just started working again!

My friendly cron from mandrivauser.de (which is syncing with distrib-coffee every 2 hours) told me:
Code: Select all
/usr/bin/rsync -avH --delete rsync://distrib-coffee.ipsl.jussieu.fr/pub/linux/Mageia/ /var/ftp/pub/mirrors/Mageia
....
receiving incremental file list
[.....]
sent 454009 bytes  received 1214130284 bytes  5458805.81 bytes/sec
total size is 155038371769  speedup is 127.65
