Which services can I stop

I see that Mageia starts up many services. Probably most of them are not necessary for the casual home user. Are there any suggestions of what can be turned off without damaging anything? For example the first thing I always turn off is numlock.

Are you talking about Services and Daemons under MCC? I recommend leaving the defaults as is especially if you don't understand what they do. It's not always obvious what will be impacted when you disable a service.
