[SOLVED] wine, dosbox where are you?

This must be noob question, but using the Software Management program to install new programs I can't seem to find where wine, dosbox, and a slew of other applications are at.

I have All and All selected and in the Find: picker I type in wine and the only package results I get is lib64kwineffects1. When I type in dosbox, I get nothing.

Media Manager is set at:

Enabled Updates Type Medium
X X HTTP Core Updates (distrib1)
X X HTTP Nonfree Updates (distrib2)
X X HTTP Core 32bit Updates (distrib4)
X X HTTP Nonfree 32bit Update (distrib5)

And also, why is it that I uninstall Kate or Kwrite and a ton of applications get uninstalled as well? applications like thunar, xfce4-xxxxxx, kwallet, etc..??? I had to manually re-add those back in, specifically, the xfce4 ones since that's the DE that I'm using.

I used to use Mandriva 2007-2009, but have used Slackware for the past 4 years. Now, I'm giving Mageia 3 a try since I've always liked Mandriva, but I'm not liking the dependency issues when uninstalling/installing software. Perhaps that is something I need to get re-used to again...

Thanks.

having only update repos enabled,
you are searching only for updates of wine etc..

you should enable the reposirories which contains all the packages, named

X X HTTP Core
X X HTTP Nonfree
X X HTTP Core 32bit
X X HTTP Nonfree 32bit

Ok, that worked AFTER I had to Configure media sources for install and update as the only non-Update that I could select was the CD-ROM.

So, I removed Kate and Kwrite, and the system tells me that the following packages are orphaned:

Code: Select all
The following packages:
  dolphin-4.10.2-1.mga3.x86_64
  dolphin-handbook-4.10.2-1.mga3.noarch
  gwenview-4.10.2-1.mga3.x86_64
  gwenview-handbook-4.10.2-1.mga3.noarch
  kamera-4.10.2-1.mga3.x86_64
  kamera-handbook-4.10.2-1.mga3.noarch
  kdeartwork4-kscreensaver-4.10.2-1.mga3.x86_64
  kfind-4.10.2-1.mga3.x86_64
  kfind-handbook-4.10.2-1.mga3.noarch
  ktexteditor-4.10.2-3.mga3.x86_64
  kwallet-4.10.2-1.mga3.x86_64
  kwallet-handbook-4.10.2-1.mga3.noarch
  lcms2-2.4-3.mga3.x86_64
  lib64gle3-3.1.0-15.mga3.x86_64
  lib64gwenviewlib4-4.10.2-1.mga3.x86_64
  lib64keybinder0-0.3.0-2.mga3.x86_64
  lib64llvmradeon9.1.2-9.1.2-1.mga3.x86_64
  lib64unique1.0_0-1.1.6-7.mga3.x86_64
  lib64xfsm4.6_0-4.10.0-10.mga3.x86_64
  plasma-applet-battery-4.10.2-3.mga3.x86_64
  plasma-applet-folderview-4.10.2-1.mga3.x86_64
  plasma-applet-showdesktop-4.10.2-1.mga3.x86_64
  thunar-1.6.2-2.mga3.x86_64
  thunar-volman-0.8.0-2.mga3.x86_64
  xfce4-appfinder-4.10.0-2.mga3.x86_64
  xfce4-mixer-4.10.0-2.mga3.x86_64
  xfce4-screenshooter-1.8.1-4.mga3.x86_64
  xfce4-session-4.10.0-10.mga3.x86_64
  xfce4-settings-4.11.0-3.mga3.x86_64
  xfce4-taskmanager-1.0.0-5.mga3.x86_64
  xfdesktop-4.10.2-1.mga3.x86_64
  xscreensaver-extrusion-5.21-1.mga3.x86_64
  xscreensaver-gl-5.21-1.mga3.x86_64
are now orphaned.

You may wish to remove them.

I also got that message after I installed wine. I run xfce for my DE, shouldn't thunar and all the xfce4 packages remain? Or if I switch to KDE, shouldn't Dolphin, kwallet, kdeartwork, kamera remain?

Why did they get orphaned when they are surely needed?

Thanks for the link... It's all coming back to me now. Same as it was with Mandriva.
