I am new to Mageia. Few days back I installed Mageia 3. The default system tray icons does not look good. So I wanted to change them.

I looked many places online. They say that the default icons are located in the "/usr/share/kde4/apps/desktoptheme/default/icons/" and " ~/.kde4/share/apps/desktoptheme/default". But I could not find them. Then I found another location in this forum "/usr/share/apps/desktoptheme/default/icons". I replaced them with custom tray icons from "kde-look.org". But nothing happened.

So where can I find the default tray icons and how to change them?

firstly theres the plasma theme then theres the default theme.

plasma uses active icons, so you wont find many images associated with them.

you need to remove the task bar, and replace it with the mageia classic bar to be able to use static icons.

ive no idea how to change plasma icons, I dont like them at all, all to much gimick, and unnecessary.

Plasma icons change with the plasma theme. In systemsettings -> workspace appearance -> workspace design -> download new one or select another.
