KDE notification windows

Postby mackowiakp » Jun 9th, '13, 22:51

In default configuration, the info windows informing (for example) about the completion of copying the file, are displayed in the top left area of the screen. They require to be close manually than because otherwise you can not even click on the icons that are under such info window.
I want to change that. in such a way that displayed the info dialog window will act as a pop-up window, from the the bottom task-bar.
So it was in Mandriva.
How can I change the KDE configuration to do this to be possible ?

The default KDE configuration shows those windows in the bottom-right corner, as pop-up windows which fade after ~10 seconds.

Hmmm. Very strange. I have two installation of M3 64 bit. First - on my desktop PC and it shows those windows in the bottom-right corner, as pop-up windows which fade after ~10 sec (exactly as You wrote).
And the second installation, on my laptop. Both installation were made in just the same time (almost). In case of laptop there is the bottom-right corner info window, which fade after 10 sec, but additionally i have - i think - the kind of plasmoid (?) in upper left corner of screen. For example, after copying 10 files, i have 10 full transparent background windows in form of column from top to bottom. Such windows are still, so it is necessary to close it one-by-one, manually.
I dont know how it was done by me during configuration ;-)
Any idea how to turn it off?

Maybe you added the Notification plasmoid to your desktop in the upper left corner or so?

Probably yes. But i can not remove it in any way. I have 5 other plasmoids installed by myself (weather, news, clock etc) and iI think that I know how to play with plasmoids (add, remove, configure etc). But not with this one ;-)

Unlock widgets and right-click it -> Remove notifications.

Of course - I try to do this. Unlock widgets by right click on desktop and then right click on widget/plasmoid. No menu appear at all. Of course right click on other plasmoid (weather for example) shows menu of this widget. So what a mystery is?

Hi there every one...

on default theme notification are buggy and shown at wrong place...

a fast solution is changing theme then reboot
(to change the theme go to "KDE Control Pannel" then click on the second icon "Display... bla bla" on the second section you should have "Desktop Theme" then just change the theme and reboot)
Should solve the notification place.

Other solution is to disable the notification.
To do that you have to go "KDE Control Pannel" then in the second line you have "Notification..." go there... you have a list of application that trigger notification... have a look at the drop down list it's a big one then scroll it up/down
for every action you could set what you want, to disable the notification you have to uncheck "pop up... bla bla..." for every action i know it's boring to do but once done you will no more be anoyed :)

Yep. But for ordinary user, like my lovely wife - does not matter is it Mageia or KDE related problem. Simply - it is bug, needs to be corrected.
